Wanneroo Joondalup SES Unit

The Western Australian State Emergency Service is a volunteer organisation who assist the community in Cliff & Cave Rescue, Land & Air Searches, Storm Damage Operations, Flood Relief, and Cyclone and Earthquake Operations. We also assist with Fire Support, Animal Rescues, Car v House Incidents and Evacuations.

History of the SES

The State Emergency Service was formed originally during the Second World War and were known as The Civil Defence. The organisation consisted mainly of men who were too old or medically unfit for active duty. Their roles were mainly rescue of people trapped in bombed buildings and preparing their communities for such events. In Australia there wasn't to many attacks on the mainland however the CD were prepared to defend their homes and families from any possible invading force.

What is the SES

State Emergency Service Volunteers are ordinary people who do extraordinary things for their community. There are positions in State Emergency Service (SES) units for people from all walks of life, with all types of talents.
